I love the idea of ​​an older woman re-entering the working world. Especially a 70-year-old woman. I’m not a fan of legal shows, and while I’m sure that at 54 before DVRS, when we were sometimes a captive audience of shows we’d rather not watch, I did accidentally, accidentally watch an episode or two. But I wasn’t really a fan of the show. Having said that, it stuck right in because everything I watched with Kathy Bates, *Misery*, *Primary Colors*, *Dolores Claiborne*, etc., etc., etc., was great.

Thankfully, none of the characters are annoying or deeply unlikable

So I was hoping *Matlock* would be great or Kathy Bates wouldn’t be there. Since I didn’t watch the original *Matlock*, I had nothing to compare it to. I watched legal shows and police procedurals that moved so fast and were so complicated that I got lost. But *Matlock* is a breeze and I was right about all the twists and turns. As other reviewers have said, there is a surprise at the end that we can’t talk about, but clues have been dropped all along.

like *Columbus*. There are times when "Mattie" struggles with the changing times, she hasn’t practiced law in years, and then sometimes it seems to break down, so one can fall into a trap.
